SMS Opt-In & Consent

Last updated: June 27, 2026

The short version:

  • TourNav sends SMS tournament-registration alerts only to parents and guardians who enter and verify their own mobile number inside their account.
  • Consent is given knowingly and on its own: the consent language appears directly next to the phone field, before any code is sent.
  • SMS consent is separate and optional — it is not part of our Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, or subscription, and is never a condition of using TourNav or of any purchase.
  • Reply STOP to opt out or HELPfor help at any time. Message frequency varies; message & data rates may apply.
  • We never sell phone numbers or share them for marketing.

1. Who Opts In

TourNav is a paid subscription service used exclusively by adults — parents and legal guardians of junior golfers. To receive SMS alerts, a subscriber must, while signed in to their own account, enter their mobile number and verify ownership of it with a one-time code. We do not purchase, rent, or import phone numbers, and we never message a number that has not been entered and verified by its owner inside the account.

2. How a Subscriber Opts In (Step by Step)

SMS consent is collected during account onboarding, on the Parent/Guardian information step. This is the actual opt-in screen the subscriber sees — the consent disclosure appears directly beneath the mobile-number field, before any message is sent (name and email are redacted here for privacy):

TourNav onboarding Parent/Guardian step showing the Mobile Number field, the Send Code button, and the SMS consent disclosure directly beneath the field: 'By tapping Send Code, you agree to receive tournament registration alerts and a one-time verification code from TourNav at this number. Consent to these texts is not required to use TourNav or to purchase. Message frequency varies; message & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help.'
The in-account opt-in form. Tapping Send Code after reading the disclosure is the affirmative act of SMS consent — separate from, and not bundled into, our Terms or Privacy Policy.

Written out, the flow is:

  1. The subscriber types their mobile number into the Mobile Number field.
  2. Directly beneath that field — before any message is sent — the subscriber sees this consent disclosure:
“By tapping Send Code, you agree to receive tournament registration alerts and a one-time verification code from TourNav at this number. Consent to these texts is not required to use TourNav or to purchase. Message frequency varies; message & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help.”
  3. The subscriber clicks Send Code, which sends a one-time verification code by SMS to the number entered.
  4. The subscriber enters the 6-digit code and clicks Verify. Only after the number is verified does it become eligible to receive tournament alerts.

Clicking Send Code after reading the disclosure above is the affirmative act of consent — a standalone choice specific to SMS. The consent text is not pre-checked, not hidden, and not bundled into our Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, or subscription; agreeing to those is never how SMS consent is given, and declining SMS does not affect a subscriber’s ability to use TourNav or to purchase. The consent sits inline with the phone field the subscriber is filling out, and applies only to the number they enter and verify.

3. What Messages We Send

After opting in, a subscriber receives:

  • A one-time verification code when they verify their number.
  • Tournament registration alerts — notifications when registration windows open or close for the states and tours the subscriber chooses to track, based on their notification preferences.

We do not send marketing or promotional text messages to third parties, and we do not use SMS for advertising.

4. Message Frequency, Rates, STOP & HELP

Frequency. Message frequency varies with tournament activity in the states and tours each subscriber tracks.

Rates.Message and data rates may apply, depending on the subscriber’s mobile plan and carrier.

Opt out. A subscriber can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any TourNav text message, or by turning off SMS alerts in their dashboard notification preferences. After opting out, no further alert texts are sent to that number.

Help. A subscriber can reply HELP to any TourNav text message, or email support@mytournav.com, for assistance.

5. Privacy of Phone Numbers

We use a subscriber’s phone number solely to deliver the verification code and the tournament alerts they have opted in to. We never sell phone numbers, and we do not share them with third parties for those parties’ own marketing. SMS is delivered through our messaging provider acting on our instructions. Full details are in our Privacy Policy (see “SMS & Email Choices”) and our Terms of Service (see “SMS & Email Communications”).
